Angel in Disguise - Record Pink
Single Review
By Irina Atanasiu
Frankfurt-based duo Record Pink have just released their new track ‘Angel in Disguise’, a tender and soothing love song with folk-inspired vibes. The song features a calming, guitar-driven melody reminiscent of acts such as Kacey Musgraves, Noah Kahan and early Taylor Swift. With heartfelt lyrics and gentle arrangements, Record Pink manage to effortlessly capture the essence of longing and affection.
Lyrics such as “you’re my angel in disguise, the light of my life, the purest person I ever met, the sweetest I’ll ever get” paint a picture of deep admiration and adoration. The description we get is that of a person who is not just special, but almost otherworldly. The line “I’ve been locked up in a room full of people, but none of them are kind like you” reflects a longing for authentic and meaningful connection that the singer has finally found in this person that they are singing about.
Sonically, ‘Angel in Disguise’ features acoustic guitars, drums, bass and percussion, with soft vocals and harmonies that add to the calming yet jovial mood of the track. The softness in the instrumentation mirrors the gentle yet powerful nature of the lyrics.
Overall, ‘Angel in Disguise’ is a track that manages to blend indie-pop and folk elements with deeply personal storytelling. Record Pink have managed to successfully capture the feeling of finding someone who feels like home in a world that feels isolating and disconnected.
