Meet Our Music Journalists
-
Rosie Burgess
I am a freelance music journalist currently based in Bristol. Since studying at BIMM Bristol, I have spent my time writing and presenting for music publications in the city such as Crack Magazine, Decadance and Resonate. My passion for music came from my parents’ extensive record collection and only developed further when I was bought my own iPod Shuffle in neon pink. In September, I will be starting the Journalism MA course at UWE. As well as journalism, I am also passionate about offering PR and management services to young music artists.

Sophie Scannell
I'm currently a music subeditor for University of Bristol's Epigram and looking forward to expanding my single, album and gig takes under a new publication! My current taste leans towards jagged, punk/indie bands with lots of bravado - getting thrown about in the pit of Sports Team's Trinity Centre gig was a personal highlight of the last year. I'm always a fan of larger, more theatrical shows, but my heart lies with the glory of the scrappy pub gig. You can't beat it!

Silva Shahini
Hi, I’m Silva and I love music’s impact on people. Personally, I love to track and soundtrack my own life through a myriad of songs and I love how music gives everyone the equal ability, freedom and opportunity to both connect to others and to look inwards. I am so excited to write for Bruadarach Music so I can explore my emotional, social and cultural interest in people through music. I hope to contribute a voice to the musical canon through the written word since my singing isn’t something that should be on the record!

Susie Long
Susie is a freelance journalist based in Bristol. She developed her love for music writing at uni, and can often be found hunting for obscure gigs and trying to find new artists in her city. She loves everything from heavy metal to indie folk, and can often be found trying to grow her guilty pleasure Dad Rock vinyl collection or making endless Spotify playlists. Susie is currently studying for her Master’s in Journalism at UWE Bristol, and loves to write for feminist and music publications in any free time she can get.

Irina Atanasiu
Irina Atanasiu (also known by her artist name Irina Imme) is a 24 year old alternative pop-punk singer and songwriter based in London. She studied at BIMM London and is currently working on her 4th EP. Her music is reminiscent of early 2000's music such as that of Avril Lavigne, Green Day, and at times even early Taylor Swift. She has been working in the music industry for almost 6 years. When she is not making music she loves to write, attend gigs and advocate for causes that are important to her.

Holly Farmer
Holly Farmer is a freelance journalist, blog writer and an avid gig attendee in Bristol and beyond. She fell in love with alternative/underground music of all kinds as a teenager and doesn’t shy away from any genre, from heavy grunge-rock to intergalactic electronica. She sparked a passion for music writing at 16, after attending an awe-inspiring music festival where she felt a deep urge to get her experience down on paper. Holly adores discussing music with lots of different people in lots of different settings and believes that the best feeling is when someone sends her recommendations. She is currently studying an MA in Journalism at UWE and is specialising in feature writing. Aside from her studies, Holly can be caught making wish lists at record stores, locked into her laptop at a cafe or bouncing around at a gig in Bristol!

Clare Cordell
Clare is a singer songwriter from Watford once described as “a sassier, more common version of Adele with a greater voice and a significantly lower bank balance”. A lot of people would take elements of this as an insult, Clare however is riding that narrative for all it’s worth bringing you performances with powerhouse emotive vocals and a strong sense of humour!
Clare is probably most known as a quarter finalist on The Voice UK (Team Tom Jones!) and she has been working professionally in the music and theatre industries for around 15 years.
