C U Happy - Macie Nyah
Single review
By Clare Cordell
Macie Nyah is a Great Yarmouth born singer songwriter who is now swirling her way into the London music scene! I am a HUGE fan of Macie and have known her for a couple of years now, I am really excited that more people are coming across her and her music because quite frankly, her vibe is immaculate!
Macie is a fellow musical theatre girl who now leans more towards music, she is now truly in her ‘Dark Bubble-gum Pop’ era and I for one, am HERE FOR IT.
Macie has curated a solid fan base with her music and her Spotify plays are growing daily. She has been played on BBC introducing and Radio 1 with Greg James as a featured artist.
Macie’s music is fun, joyful and relatable. She has a real knack for turning even the saddest of subjects into an absolute bop! It’s a really clever way of getting people on side and is a perfect example of using music as a release.
This newest track from Macie is called ‘C U Happy’ and will be available to listen to on repeat from 22nd November.
The song opens with the lyrics “Spoiled like the milk at the back of the fridge” which has to be one of the best opening lines I’ve heard for a while!
I am fully obsessed with the premise of this song. Sometimes it is TOTALLY acceptable to wish mild disaster on an ex and this song embodies that energy. Lyrics like ‘I could wish you well but I’m not goanna do that frankly’ TELL THEM MACIE!!!
The production quality of this track is incredible, and Macie has this way of adding in small asides into the song which make it super personable. It feels like she’s actually talking to you and having a conversation with the listener.
Macie’s vocals are top notch as always. I have to say, I think this is such a recurring theme for all the girlies with a background in Musical Theatre. We have the discipline; we have the skills AND we have that flair for the dramatics so you know that we can put on a good show! Look at Sabrina Carpenter, Ariana Grande and Renee Rapp. All MT girlies and all impeccable vocalists and performers. Mace is right up there with them!
This track is a serious ear worm and I’m going to add it to my feel-good playlist as SOON as it is out!
I now have to go and send this song to everyone who has ever wronged me...
