FREAK – Redrum (Hatice Tuzun)

Single Review

By Clare Cordell

I am obsessed with Redrum aka Hatice Tuzun, and have been since I first met her doing The Voice. She was a fellow quarter finalist as part of team Will. She was the first UK garage female lyricist on team Will and for her blind audition she sang the classic sweet female attitude track ‘Flowers’.

I have never met anyone who has a more natural flow. Lyrics come out of Redrum so fast and her writing is so clever; her freestyle skills literally blow my mind! She is a super versatile artist and has a unique sound that lends itself to SO many different genres.

Redrum and I also work closely with Lounges TV, and Redrum has just been crowned by them as the best upcoming female rapper by the one and only Professor Green.

Reds latest track is called Freak and is produced by KYXXX and the it really showcases just how talented Red is! She starts by showcasing her vocals with a super catchy chorus where the melody gives a nod to the Adina Howard song Freak Like Me from the early 90s!

We then move into a slick rap that brings home my point from earlier that she is the GOAT when it comes to female lyricists right now,

I might not look like it, but I do love old school hip hop and the vibe of this track gives me classic early 90s and I am totally here for it! I am also obsessed with the manifesting and angel number references in this track.

Redrum is really out here paving a way for women in the UKG scene. She’s totally original whilst still being completely captivating. I am LOVING watching her absolutely girl boss it.
