In the Rain - The Robbery

Single Review

By Irina Atanasiu

Leicestershire-based band The Robbery have just released their new indie-rock single ‘In The Rain’. Despite suffering lockdown challenges as well as coping with the ups and downs of growing up, The Robbery have already started to leave their mark on the UK indie music scene with their captivating and nostalgic brand of alternative-rock. Their music has influences from garage rock bands such as Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes and Catfish and the Bottlemen as well as pop artists such as Hozier and Tom Grennan, giving their music a fresh and unique twist unlike anything you’ve heard before.

‘In The Rain’ features a combination of dynamic and introspective vocals and memorable instrumentals which deliver a high-quality track that is bound to captivate listeners from the first listen. The lyrics seem to tell the story of a person who is caught up in a confusing love affair. The song’s protagonist is trying to make sense of this love affair and make things work despite feeling like they’re being made to “play a little game” by the person that is being sung about. This is a situation that many people can probably resonate with, giving the song a high level of relatability. The production in the song is excellent and gives the track commercial appeal.

This single has opened up new doors for The Robbery, seeing as they are currently preparing to support The Mercians at the O2 Academy in Leicester. I am looking forward to hear more music from them and am excited to follow their promising musical journey!
