‘is it my face?’ - Juliet Ivy Review
By Julia Miszczyk
After the successful release of her EP in November and the song 'we're all eating each other' that went viral, Juliet Ivy released her new song ‘is it my face?’. The 23-year-old singer from New York once again magnetises listeners with her exquisite voice and humorous song writing.
"is it my face?" accurately represents the feeling of being judged by the environment and being different from the 'ideal' ones in our heads. Constantly wondering why we can't find the love of our lives causes us to compare ourselves to those who do so easily. Juliet Ivy, with her feather-light voice and delicate guitar, adds weight to her humour by asking, “Is it my face?' / 'Is it my clothes?”. What causes us to be alone all the time, and why does no one pay us interest?
“Would it be different if I was an idiot?” is another question Juliet raises in her song. Because so many of us need love and to not feel alone, we frequently forget to be who we are and adapt to fit alongside others. "Dumb but I'm trying / Want you to want me." Ivy perfectly summarises how she does everything she can to be wanted and to be like other girls, but she also does not hide the fact that she is unique.
In her Instagram post, Juliet said “We're just girls with so many different emotions, personalities, and sides to us, and we wanna feel loved.” She points out that each of us is perfect, and there's no reason to feel like an outsider.
Juliet Ivy recently performed her first sold-out headline event in the UK. Her music career is just getting started, so keep this name in mind and look out for future tour announcements. Now all you have to do is enjoy Juliet's stunning vocals and, most importantly, her touching music video.
