Medusa - Rosie Gault
By Emma Faid
Rosie Gault’s new single ‘Medusa’ is a remarkably different vibe than what we may have expected. Following on from her previous single ‘Broken Bones’, the track is more electronic in nature and creates a more layered soundscape. Rather than taking away from Gault’s songwriting talents, it serves as a pedestal from which they are amplified.
‘Medusa’ has a familiarity to it, reminiscent of 2000s pop songs which makes it a very enjoyable listen. Gault’s relatability takes a more confident turn throughout the song. Far more confident and self-assured as seen in lyrics such as:
‘Cause a man is just a man, but I am a goddess’
‘I’ll give you something to be scared of’
‘I’ll watch you crumble in my hands’
The perfect addition to your girl pop playlist, this is an ear-worm you will be returning to time and time again.
‘Medusa’ is the perfect single to showcase Rosie Gault’s versatility both in musical style and lyrical ability. As an up-and-coming artist it is really inspiring to see her step out and explore a variety of sounds as many younger singer/songwriters tend to get stuck in a cycle of doing very similar music.
The future is undoubtably bright for Rosie and I cannot wait to see where her talents will take her and for the amazing music we will get along the way!
