Summoners Review

By Irina Atanasiu

Portsmouth-based alternative-rock band Summoners have made their debut as a group with their brand new single ‘Erase Replace’. The band is made up of some of the city’s most promising musicians, what with all members have a track record of airplay on BBC Radio 1 Introducing. Despite them being fairly new to the music scene, they have already played major events such as Icebreaker Festival & Takedown Festival Showcases.

‘Erase Replace’ is an anthem about being pushed to the limit and constantly feeling like you’re adjusting to less. The band’s sound is influenced by major alternative-rock bands such as Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age and Royal Blood. These influences are clear in ‘Erase Replace’, although the band still manages to have its own unique takes on the genre as well. The single artwork and accompanying music video feature strong DIY aesthetics, reminiscent of 1990’s and 2000’s alternative-rock.

‘Erase Replace’ is the first of many singles that Summoners are planning to release in 2025. Their second single and dark dance-rock track ‘Spite’ is set to be released on February 14. Summoners are also expected to play exciting support slots in venues such as Southampton’s The 1865, further cementing their status as an exciting and promising new force in the UK alternative-rock scene.
