The Winds of Change - Gus Tiramani
Single Review
By Emma Faid
“A masterclass in modern easy listening”
10 months after his last single ‘If I Fall’, Gus Tiramani is back with an essential for your autumnal playlists. ‘The Winds of Change’ is a melancholic yet hopeful song, with a mellow tempo and gorgeous lyrics.
The song pulls you in right from the opening and keeps your attention throughout with the beautiful melody. Starting off simply, the song expands into a fuller sound with increased dimension. Though when listening to this song, it is the lyrics which will keep you captivated.
Tiramani’s lyrics tell of the doubts, insecurity and loneliness we can all feel from time to time. Summing it up in the line: “Sometimes it feels like no one’s up above, looking down, watching over us”. As the song progresses, Tiramani takes a more optimistic stance, ensuring listeners: “If you let go of the pressure you put on yourself, you might just find the space you need to grow”.
The music video for ‘The Winds of Change’ depicts Tiramani waking up in plates and chain mail armour, feeling an unknown force pulling him towards something. Following his compass, he is guided to his calling, which is his helmet. Encapsulating the meaning of ‘winds of change’ as a change that cannot be resisted. This idea is mirrored through Tiramani’s song, life will take us where we need to go so relax and enjoy the ride.
‘The Winds of Change’ is a masterclass in modern easy listening. A song which feels like melting into a warm hug, ‘The Winds of Change’ is an ear worm in the best possible way. After one listen, you will be going back to this track time and time again.
Gus Tiramani’s debut EP is out November 22.
